Site Description:
Located east of Kalispell, Shady Lane Pond area encompasses 120 acres on both sides of the Flathead River. Shady Lane Pond is a family fishing pond.
Trails and Terrain:
There is a paved trail to the pond as well as 2.5 miles of primitive hiking trails in this area.
Wildlife Present:
Rainbow trout, westslope cutthroat trout, pumpkinseed sunfish, black bullheads, osprey and bald eagles are present.
On-Site Educational Programs:
Hooked on Fishing and other educational programs are available through the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Seasons:
Open all year.
Access:
Shady Lane Pond is accessed directly from the parking lot.
The pond offers handicapped accessible parking, picnic pavilion, and fishing pier. There is also a paved trail. This handicapped accessible area is located behind a locked gate. Contact the biologist at Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks to schedule access.
Parking and Entrance to Site:
From Highway 35, turn onto Shady Lane Drive. At the stop sign, turn left on Holt Stage Road. Turn left into the Old Steel Bridge fishing access site.
There is ample paved and graveled parking.
