Special Outdoor Sites & Areas of Interest: Miller Creek Demonstration Forest, north of Whitefish -- trails and written trail guides to explore the role of fire on the landscape; Coram Experimental Forest, located on the NE end of Hungry Horse Reservoir -- trails and written trail guides on the ecology and silviculture of western larch forests; Holland Lake Nature Trail, near Condon; Krause Basin Interpretive Trail, east of Kalispell off the Strawberry Lake Road; The Everchanging Forest and other interpretive trails at the Condon Work Center in the Swan Valley.
Special Annual Event: Flathead National Forest and over 20 other area organizations and agencies host the Family Forestry Expo each May at the Trumbell Creek Educational Forest, west of Columbia Falls. |
