Learn about the specialized habitat for mushrooms as well as how to use botanical key for fungi.
Instructor: Larry Evans, B.S.
This course offers a thorough introduction to the enormous number of fungi and their role in the northern Rockies ecosystem as a source of nutrition for the entire forest. We will learn how to use a botanical key to identify fungi and taste test the edible mushrooms that we collect in the National Forest throughout the day. To preserve Glacier’s resources we will observe and identify but not collect any mushrooms while in the park. All mushroom lovers are welcome. Since spring and fall species are quite different, be sure to sign up for our Fall Mushroom Foray.
