Detail course description online.
Spend a day observing the lifestyle of these amazing ducks.
Instructor: John Ashley, B.A.
Meeting Place: Field Camp at Glacier National Park
The pacific harlequin is the only duck in the world that divides its time between the torrential, cold mountain streams of Glacier National Park and the heavy surf of coastal waters. Sharing the breeding pattern of the salmon, harlequins return each year to the same stream where they hatched in order to mate. Come with us as we visit McDonald Creek where a number of these secretive birds return each spring.
Empasizing field-based learning experiences, the Institute provides an objective and science based understanding of the area's ecology and its interaction with people. Through this non-advocacy approach to outdoor education, participants can be better prepared to make informed and constructive decisions which impact this and other ecosystems.
